Walking through this vast open land, My eyes take in all of the colors that float into my mind. I takes in all the beautiful colors of this dismal desert. But through the horizon of it's ends, there is… silence.
As the world turns hour by hour from day break until dusk. I see the light brighten over the desert sands forming endless pictures as the sun's rays bounced away by the reflections of the higher dunes. Through it all though there is nothing but an empty … Silence.
All around me there cactus trees sage brush dry cracked clay eroded through the ages of time and even in its magnificent beauty I hear nothing but... Silence.
The wind whispers above but it's words are unspoken to my deaf ears. I try to find it's meaning through the abyss of this empty wasteland as I walk through its emptiness. Again all there is for me to hear is the calm dead… Silence.
My heart pounds inside my chest echoing though my body, outwardly though, it reaches out into the void searching for that something I will be able to hear, and still, there is nothing coming back to me but the faint painful whispers of... Silence.
I reach out for a hand of a friend, and quickly retract it realizing that like a scorpion, it's tone to me is like a painful sting. Holding back my longing for love and companionship, I slowly slip away to my own secret world. A world filled with gloom despair and... Silence.
My life being that of an empty shell feels no touch of another or the softness of the inside of their heart. I meander back into the shade of my rock at day's end, crawl into my black hole. A tear forms in the corner of my eye reminding me that all I do is bask into my own world at another days end... a world that is surrounded by the sounds of... Silence.
The images of the next day are like the long days before. Bitter sweet in my mind and heart as my tears dry from the morning's sunlight. I search once again to leave my empty shell that has me imprisoned. Soon, I realize that once again, I am left alone in my... Silence.
